GBL's 2022 Convention charity organization is Families Helping Families of Iowa, Inc. (FHFOI). 
FHFOI is a nonprofit organization based in Cedar Rapids, IA. They are dedicated to offering programs and services designed specifically to help and assist Iowa’s foster care children, and the families that care for them. FHFOI serves children in foster care in all 99 counties in Iowa!

FHF was found in 2004 with $100 and a vision. In 2006, Families Helping Families of Iowa was able to secure 501(c)3 nonprofit status and incorporation.

​

Each year, FHFOI distributes about 700 backpacks with school supplies to Iowa’s Children in Foster Care!   About 450 of those will be assembled by the kids at their Back to School Rally event. The kids get to enjoy a fun day with bounce houses, dunk tanks, hot dogs and chips, other games and then pick out their very own school supplies. For the other backpacks, they are filled with supplies and distributed in the Des Moines area.

So, for this year's Convention, we are collecting school supplies

to donate to FHFOI! Click here to see a list of school supplies that

they are in need of. A few items they are always in need of include:

 

• Dry erase markers

• 1" white binders

• Ear buds and headphones

• Scientific calculators 

 

Monetary cash donations will also be accepted. We will not have a raffle for this year's charity organization.
